Jail Time & Arrest Rules: Surrender Pays

Learn how ROB RUN jail time works, when to surrender to cops, what an arrest costs, and how the weekly wipe turns your stash into time.

What ROB RUN jail time actually costs you

An arrest does not instantly respawn you. It puts your character into a sentence with a visible timer. The HUD can show a prison banner with a number like 41 years, but the game does not publish how crime converts into years or how a year maps to real time. Treat any exact conversion table as unconfirmed.

The first thing to know about ROB RUN jail time is that surrender is a trade, not a total loss. You can surrender at any point. Police take what is in your bag and leave your equipped weapons, armor, and tools intact. Fighting a losing cop fight costs you the kit and the loot. Surrendering costs you the bag and nothing else.

That difference decides how you should play every police encounter. If a cop already has you pinned, the arrest is cheaper than the fight. If you have a clean route and a fast vehicle, running can preserve the whole run. The worst outcome is dying with a full kit because you refused to accept a bad trade.

Why cops feel overpowered and why that is by design

Police are real players. On entering Looty Bay you pick a side, and the cop side comes with state-issued gear and a patrol vehicle. The department has no background checks, so the role is open to anyone who wants it. The pressure you feel is not a difficulty slider. It is another player with a badge.

Cop pay comes from three places: a cut of confiscated goods, payment for arrests, and bribes to let a suspect walk. Cops also trade Police Badges for better equipment and do not risk their own gear on shift. That is why they can keep coming back after a bad fight.

Early in a wipe, cops almost always outnumber criminals, respawn inside Looty Bay, and arrive with fast vehicles and solid equipment. Criminal earnings scale with risk, while cop payouts are lower by design. The gap narrows once criminals build serious firepower, so the first days of a wipe are the dangerous ones.

Cop advantageWhat it means for youPractical counter
Outnumbering patrolsMultiple units can box you inLeave before Notoriety peaks; avoid open escapes
Respawning inside Looty BayLosing a cop fight rarely removes them from the mapDo not expect one won fight to clear your tail
State-issued gear and vehiclesThey can press harder than you canSurrender when cornered; keep your equipped kit
Three income streamsCops are paid to arrest, confiscate, and take bribesDo not assume a cop will always take the fight
Lower personal riskThey can regear without losing their own loadoutBank your wins instead of chasing every bag

Surrender, fight, or run: the decision table

The worst outcome is not arrest. It is dying with a full kit because you refused to accept a bad trade. If a cop has you pinned, surrender and keep the gun. If you have a clean route and a fast vehicle, running can preserve the whole run. If the bag is the only thing at risk, do not trade your loadout for it.

Mask tricks are not an escape. As of the October 2026 playtest build, there is no way to take the mask off and quietly stop being a target while police are on you. Plan to either leave the area or accept the arrest.

How to reduce your ROB RUN jail time risk

Every decision that lowers Notoriety also lowers your exposure to ROB RUN jail time. Sell the run before the response arrives. Notoriety climbs the longer you stay in the city, and the police response climbs with it. The players who keep their money are the ones who leave when the bag is full, not the ones who stay for one more score.

Treat the first days of a wipe as the dangerous ones. Criminals are weakest then, cops are at full strength, and the gear gap is real. Bank the small wins and let the gap close. Do not throw a basic loadout at a high-risk bank job because the payout looks big.

Jail time, wipes, and the weekly reset

Every seven days, the weekly Federal Raid wipe wipes all plots, bases, weapons, and cash and converts them into jail time and authority. Cosmetics, player name, tutorial progress, settings, and accumulated jail time carry over.

That makes jail time one of the few things that keeps its value across a reset. The sentence timer after an arrest is a separate concern from the accumulated jail time that survives a wipe, so do not confuse the two. One is the immediate cost of getting caught. The other is long-term progression that persists.

FAQ: ROB RUN jail time questions

Does surrendering erase all my progress? No. Police take what is in your bag and leave your equipped weapons, armor, and tools intact. You lose the loot you were carrying, not the kit you built. That is why surrendering is usually cheaper than fighting a cop who already has you cornered.

Can I take off my mask and walk away from the police? Not as of the October 2026 playtest build. The mask is what makes you a target, and the police around you are why you cannot quietly stop being one. Plan to leave the area or accept the arrest.

How long is one year of ROB RUN jail time? The game does not publish the conversion rule for ROB RUN jail time. A sentence banner can show a number like 41 years, but there is no confirmed mapping between crime, years, and real time. Treat any exact table of those numbers as unconfirmed until the game itself makes it clear.

Does ROB RUN jail time reset with the wipe? Accumulated jail time carries over. Plots, bases, weapons, and cash are wiped and converted into jail time and authority. If you are planning around a reset, protect the progress that carries over and avoid overbuilding the things that do not.
